Thoughtful Fantastic: Podcast Take Two
Stepson and I return with our second attempt at a movie focused podcast. This week we change our name to Thoughtful Fantastic; and discuss Smokin' Aces and the new Coen Brothers' movie A Serious Man.Smokin' Aces
We agree that the movie is bad, but enjoyable. And we discuss how violence affects us differently We rate this movie 2 GREEN as indicated below.

A Serious Man
While this led to a pretty good post-movie discussion, we both agreed that it's impact on us was minimal. In a reverse, Zane says this movie is good, but not enjoyable. We talk a bit about what boring movies mean. This movie gets a SINGLE GREEN.

We are still working out the kinks before we put this up on iTunes. For now, you can stream the show using the player below; or download the file by right clicking the file link below.
As before, feedback, ideas, movie suggestions welcome.

Matthew's inherent "inner codger" is channeled by way of charmingly out-dated slang (eg. "Whiz-Bang" circa 1952), while Zane effortlessly plays the smoothly sarcastic teenager role with a perfectly dry, unaffected attitude. Although the car audio should not be repeated, the multiple locations really kept it lively. A huge improvement from last week, mostly because we are spared the awkward dithering of a format being workshopped live.
Instead of watching "A Simple Man", I have "Miller's Crossing" arriving via Netflix on Monday. I would rather watch a perfect Cohen Brothers film again, than endure being disappointed by one that sounds like a waste of time.
As for Smoking Aces, I agree with you both that it was terribly good, but there is a nugget of solid comic gold at the heart of this film. The brief Jason Bateman scenes were pure mprovised genius, and in my opinion, justify the film's existence.
Most of all, I just like that you guys are doing a podcast together. It's both Amazing AND Fantastic.
