Episode 1: Monte & Mendel Malbec

Also referred to as: Experiment 2
As discussed previously, I am running some experiments of late, attempting to figure out: what would a wine show look like if you removed all that wine talking stuff?

Format
In the previous episode, I created a video. While I enjoyed working with video, it proved difficult to manage (cause I have a full-time job and no editor). For this episode, I wanted to try working audio only. It was much easier and I'm actually happier with the end result. I was able to record and edit the entire thing in basically a week. As I want this show to be a regular thing, expect future episodes to be audio only for now.
Structure
I refined the structure a bit for this episode. I follow a conventional wine tasting structure, asking my guest to describe the wine's:
- color
- nose
- taste
- body
- finish
but instead of describing those aspects of the wine as you normally would (to other colors, smells, tastes, etc.), I ask my guest to compare them to something completely unrelated to wine. In this case: memories from middle school.
The Episode
In this premiere audio version of Not About Wine, Matthew drinks a bottle of 2005 Mendel Malbec with Monte Belmonte -- esteemed radio host from Turners Falls, MA. Monte compares the wine to memories he has of middle school.
As always: questions/problems/thoughts welcome: contact me.
